  Tuesday Tea at Three -

Every Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. the Math Department meets in the lobby of RAC for 15 minutes of refreshments and social time, followed by a 20-30 minute math talk in RAC 113.  Talks are of general interest, are accessible to all undergraduates, and are given by faculty, math majors, alumni and visiting professors.  All math majors, especially freshman and newly declared majors, are encouraged to attend!

The Sine Wave -

The Sine Wave is the bi-weekly publication of the Pepperdine Math Department that advertises upcoming events and announcements, a main story featuring a math major or faculty member from the department, interesting mathematical facts and a Problem of the Week competition.  The Sine Wave is available every other Monday in the RAC lounge.  It is also posted on the doors of math faculty members so be sure to look for it and stay current on what's happening in the department!

Pi Mu Epsilon National Math Honor Society -

The Pepperdine University Math Department has been granted a charter to form a brand new chapter of the Pi Mu Epsilon National Math Honor Society.  During the first three weeks of Fall Semester, 2004, Dr. Killpatrick will be accepting applications for students who meet the criteria and wish to join the new chapter.  We will be having an initiation ceremony in mid-October to celebrate the formation of the chapter and to honor the new inductees.

MAA Student Chapter -

The Pepperdine Math Department currently has a very active Student Chapter of the Mathematical Association of America.  The chapter is run by students and organizes a number of math events throughout the year.  The main fall event is the Math Formal usually held in November.  The Math Formal is a semi-formal dinner, with dancing following, that recognizes the graduating seniors and honors math faculty with special awards.  The chapter is looking forward to the 3rd Annual Math Formal this coming November.  The main spring event is a week-long celebration of Pi Day, culminating on March 14th with a "Throw a Pie at a Professor" event and a pie-eating outing in the evening.  This past year, students sold special Pi Day tattoos to add to the week's celebration.  All students are welcomt to join the MAA Student Chapter.
